It's where contemporary meets
commercial: rejuvenation through
regeneration. providing exclusive homes,
retail, leisure and office properties for an exciting vision of
the past into the future.
Combining the use of the latest innovative and environmental
friendly building techniques with the old tried and tested
building methods using renewable resources provides a proven
platform for a unique method of building.
Past
Entrepreneur David Stevens frustrated by the then oppressive
constraints of the family business joined in partnership with
another like minded person Geoff Crabtree. In 1970 they formed
what is now Montash Properties Ltd.
Their farsighted vision enabled them to establish what is now a
successful property development company. Taking on bold projects
and linking with other partners.
This they found awkward and restrictive and although they had
built up a good reputation they lacked the financial ability to
take on projects alone.
|
David and Michael Stevens took over the management of the
Sheppy Group of Companies after their Father's death.
Eventually
Michael approached David and Geoff with an offer which they saw
as the answer to their financial restraints. Montash Properties
Ltd became part of the Sheppy Group.
Geoff Crabtree later left the
company to form his own company and has gone from strength to
strength.
Present
Since David's retirement his son Charles Stevens has
brought his own particular expertise into the company taking
it to its next stage of innovative development.
Cox Vernacular Buildings
Cox Vernacular Buildings now specialize in the construction
of Kent vernacular timber framed houses. Internally, our
houses are characterized by superb oak timber frames which
include braces, posts and joists, enhanced by handmade brick
or timber floors, inglenook fireplaces and purpose made
joinery.
|
Externally, a wide variety of finishes are used, These
finishes are brick, stone, weatherboard, lime render or tile
hanging, or perhaps a combination of two or more of these. The
choice of external finishes is usually influenced by local
materials and architecture. Timber frames are versatile and
can be clad with almost any material.
Our attention to detail throughout our houses is carried
out with passion and flair. We use lime putty mortars, Flemish
bonded brickwork, quality clay tiles and the finest English
oak from Kent and Sussex.
Oak timber frames are made using correct 16th Century
joists and oak pegs. Frames, doors and windows are all hand
made in our workshops.
This passion for period detailing is endemic throughout the
Company, right from the boss to our architects, site managers
and quality tradesmen. All our staff are rightly proud of the
houses we build and we would be delighted if you would further
your interest in our passion.
