South Barn in Kent

Formerly part of the Monkery Farm it
location made it an excellent project for
Montash to get it's teeth into.
The building dates from the 17th Century
and was remarkable well preserved.

Restoration has been carefully undertaken with fastidious adherence to the intrinsic period characteristics of the old building.

Many of the old original timbers remain with the roof re-tiled with hand-made clay tiles produced in Kent.

Both the walls and the roof have been insulated to meet today's energy efficient standards.

The layout inside has been designed to enhance the buildings original simplicity and to maximize the feeling of light and space.

The Barn has a traditional canopied porch with it original doorway being almost fully glazed to maintain the simple outlines. It provides a delightful vista from the Galleried Hall across the field to the wooded area beyond.
